Badger
brushes have naturally flared ends which are especially adept to holding
just the right amount of water for creating a rich moist lather. Time tested
over the centuries, badger brushes have no equal. After use they
should be hung head downwards to allow the water to drain away from the wood
handle.
There are three types of badger brushes— pure badger, best badger and
silvertip. Pure badger is made from the supple fur that covers most of the
badger’s body. Generally it is tan in color, but can be black. This fur has
the
largest hair shaft diameter. Best badger covers about 25% of the badger’s
body is somewhat finer and therefore even more supple. Covering less than
15% of the badger’s body, silvertip is generally two tone in color and is
taken from the neck and chest area. The difference between pure badger
and best badger is slight, but the difference between best badger and
silvertip is remarkable. Our brush is pure badger with an olivewood handle.
To accompany this brush, we carry a beautiful modern made German straight
razor with matching olivewood scales. We can order silvertip on
request. Please contact us for anticipated delivery schedule.
Although significantly inferior to the badger brushes, we do carry some
inexpensive bristle shaving brushes for those just getting into wet shaving.
